From our Facebook Friends: Surviving Insomnia

I posted my frustration on Facebook yesterday:

No joke, I just experienced night 4 of insomnia. The minute-by-minute clock-watch starts at 3:30 a.m., and ends about 2 hours later. Ever suffer similarly? What do you do when you’re awake in the middle of the night?

I check my Facebook. Which makes it tougher to go back to sleep. No, seriously… try some melatonin.

Oh gosh 4 nights – feel bad for you! I just go ahead and get up and work, just something quiet like making a list. Sometimes that puts my mind at ease enough to go back to sleep.

I’m told that any kind of light (such as …oh a computer screen, lol) makes it harder to get back to sleep because it triggers the wake up chemicals. Maybe turn the A/C down a bit at night? I find it harder to sleep when it’s hot. I feel so bad for you… insomnia is miserable.

Cyndi Rodgers Massa Melatonin does work! So does reading a book!! Any other symptoms? I went through this & it ended up being my thyroid! Just asking…but sometimes it’s just too much stuff in the brain! Make that list, drink warm, DECAF tea, read until you’re ready to pass out! OOOH a nice long bath before bed….that’ll relax you!

ooh, that’s happenned to me before but not for 4 days, I would suggest a work out to tire you out about 6 or 7pm and a relaxing warm bath with a nice cup of chamomile iced or hot tea. I know it’s hard to do when wehave a family but perhaps you can set it up ahead of time and assure yourself of this much needed time at home :) .

sadly it happens just about every night…so I read, or clean because I can’t sleep. Eventually, I’ll fall asleep, but usually only for a few hours

I wake up everynight after just a couple hours of sleep. I try to go back to sleep or just come and sit in the dark in the recliner.

Pure Rest from Usana Health Sciences. Pharmaceutical Grade Melatonin from Switzerland source. non-narcotic. Take it before bed if you regularly suffer from insomnia. Melatonin is the natural hormone our bodies produce to cause sleep. As we age we produce less, but other reasons can also be a cause. Extra stress in your life? Caffeine after 6 PM? Light coming in your room, versus a totally dark room for sleep is essential.

I get all my best work done in the wee hours but Motrin PM does help me eventually conk out. My hubby threatens to knock me out with a hammer. I hate looking at the clock and saying” If I go to sleep right now, I will get 4 hours of sleep, 3 hours of sleep then oh hell I gotta get up and go to work so I feel for you.Add your advice below!
