I was brainstorming with my buddy, Feleena Sutton, the other day on 940KYNO talk radio. We were exchanging ideas on the air for Father’s Day. My sweet husband, Rich, wants a fancy, new cell phone (easy one, check!) and a Grizzlies game (also easy, tickets in hand, thanks to friends with connections.) Feleena is the greatest cook, so she gives her husband the menu of his dreams.
We are feeling pretty OK about those plans – until we ask our resident dad on the show, E. Curtis Johnson, for his expert opinion on the the ideal Father’s Day gift. He told us there were two things.
Anything handmade by the kids. And . . .
“That which made him a father!”
Ah, the complex simplicity of today’s man. On Father’s Day, he wants to play with the kids — then he wants the little dudes out of the house so he can play with Mom. Isn’t that just like a guy? I must admit there is something refreshingly straightforward about the idea that Dad wants Mom for Father’s Day! So, keep it simple, Mamas. Forget the dinner — go straight for dessert, baby.
Word.

Lol. Gail…you’re the best!
Dang. I was going to go with a macaroni necklace.
