Martha Tessmer of Madera is scheduled to be on “Oprah” today as part of the star’s campaign against distracted driving.
The Tessmer family suffered a tragic loss when their son, Donovan, was killed in a traffic accident. A teen-age family friend, Danica Lacy, was driving. She was distracted by a group of friends in the car. Martha and Danica have been making appearances together statewide telling their compelling story of devastation and, ultimately, forgiveness. I’ve heard it three times and I cry every time. It’s amazing.
Martha’s story has been told twice on KYNO Radio’s talk shows. Channel 30 locally will be doing a story today on the 5 p.m. news broadcast after Oprah’s show. Don’t miss their story of unconditional love.

I would love to see it. My son was in youth group with Donovan. A number of his friends grew up with Donovan and still miss him dearly. It was a gut wrenching loss. It you come across a video to post, please do so. I’d love a chance to watch it.
