Winter blahs: being comforted by music and soup

Life's been pretty slow ever since Thanksgiving ended last week, and I'm finding it hard to stick to the program. You know, it's that life us Valley moms do while raising a house full of kids, taking them to their perspective schools/activities/etc., while making dinner, cleaning, laundry, etc.

And I'll admit: one kid has been late to school so far, and I've been trucking everyone around in the most un-matched sweats and over-sized sweaters as possible, without doing my hair or makeup. No dangly earrings, no pizazz. I guess it's just that time of year again. The days are shorter, and it's colder outside. Who wants to get out of bed?! The best part of the day is staying under those warm covers, darn it! Yes, getting out from underneath my blanket dwelling definitely brings out the grouch in me. Maybe other Fresno moms are going through the same thing???

So to be proactive, I just got done making a ton of vegetable soup AND a separate beef stew – hopefully this'll hold me over for a few days. AND I've also been bumping the tunes of this wonderful British band called Porcupine Tree. If you like Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, or local band Insect, you are going to LOVE them! Enjoy!

And if you don't like this genre of rock, this might warm you up too! Oh Valley heat…where have you gone?!

  1. I’ve been late every day this week because I don’t want to leave my blanket cocoon. Hubby is out of town and I don’t have to wake up at 530, so why wake up at 615 right?
My sweater sleeve is unraveling, I only made it as far as eyeliner today, hair in a ratty pony, no earrings (lucky I remembered my wedding rings!) and my pants are a bit wrinkled. Thank goodness I sit at a desk and most of the horribleness is hidden!

  2. Yeah. I’m seriously thinking of having a mom’s only “sweats and soup” party. Leave the makeup behind. Hairbands optional. haha
